- President elect Donald Trump tapped Mike Johnson is set to lose the first ballot for the House speaker vote after losing support from three GOP members – Tom Emmer, R-Minn., Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Byron Donalds, R-Fla.

- To be elected speaker, a candidate has to win a majority out of all votes cast.
- IT has been reported that Trump spoke by phone with both Reps. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., and Keith Self, R-Texas, after they had initially voted for people other than Johnson for speaker
- Afterwards, both the republicans who voted against Mike Johnson has changed their vote in favor of Mike and Mike has finally won the Speaker Election
