Costco Egg Recall 2024 : A recent egg recall has been issued by Costco Wholesale Corporation due to potential Salmonella contamination. This recall affects specific egg products sold at select Costco locations.

Why the Recall?

The recall was prompted by a supplier’s notification to Costco of a potential Salmonella outbreak linked to their eggs. Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause serious foodborne illness, particularly in vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.

What Products Are Recalled?

The recalled products are specific to certain egg brands and lot codes. It’s crucial to check the specific details provided by Costco or the relevant health authorities, which we have briefed below.

What Should Consumers Do?

  1. Check Your Fridge: If you have purchased eggs from Costco that match the recalled products, do not consume them.
  2. Return the Eggs: Return the recalled eggs to your local Costco store for a full refund.
  3. Monitor for Symptoms: If you have consumed the recalled eggs and experience symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, consult a healthcare provider.

How to Stay Safe:

  • Purchase Eggs from Reliable Sources: Choose eggs from reputable suppliers and retailers.
  • Store Eggs Properly: Keep eggs refrigerated at 40°F or below.
  • Cook Eggs Thoroughly: Ensure that eggs are cooked to a safe internal temperature of 160°F.

What does Costco Said over the recall:

On 27 November, Costco Said via notice that It has been determined that eggs that were not intended for retail distribution were accidentally graded and used in production of the above-referenced item. The recall has been initiated because the subject eggs have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Please review your eggs date-time stamp on the side of the carton. If the eggs you have purchased include the following 3 points of information (as detailed below), please return them to your local Costco for a full refund.
