South Korea is currently seeing a new political uncertainty as the President Yoon Suk Yeol declared Martial Law which sent a nation wise shock while he made a late-night address on Tuesday.
As regards the History of Martial Law, it was earlier declared in 1980, during a nationwide uprising led by students and labor unions.
Though, Lawmakers have voted to block his decision, uncertainty is still there regarding the effect the vote will have on the martial law declaration. As far as the South Korean law is concerned, the president Yoon has to comply the same.
Members of National Assembly were seen clashing with authorities outside the Assembly building in Seoul.
As regards the statement of Yoon, he said the move was necessary to protect the country from “communist forces” in North Korea. He further added that the main opposition Democratic Party has repeatedly attempted to impeach government officials, and it has paralyzed the government.
